Compassion

I feel like my heart is burning with a zest to learn.
To experience God.
To give all the love I feel in my heart to others.

This weekend, the "theme" seemed to be compassion.
My mom and I talked about compassion as I did her nails Saturday.
She was asking me about my Pet Peeves post and what I had posted that was offensive.
I explained to her through that post, the comments I received back, and when I looked within my self,
that I learned a little bit about compassion.

Then, Sunday—the topic during service was about compassion
and loving your neighbor.
It brought me right back to that post that I wrote just two short months ago.
It reminded me, "Who am I to judge?"
There is really only ONE judge,
and I'm learning more about Him each day.

I went forward to be prayed for on Sunday.
to learn what it was inside of me that made me
critical,
judgemental,
think hurtful things about others.
Sometimes I really do have negative thoughts.
I feel so bad about them.
I get annoyed very easily, and that's not fair to others.
So yesterday,
I went forward.
A lovely woman prayed for me.
We spoke to Jesus and asked for me to know compassion,
to help show others compassion,
as He has shown it to me.

It's amazing how little events over time help show me what I want to learn,
what I need to work on,
and what I'm doing right.
Compassion is just one of those steps on the stairway to heaven.
I can't wait to conquer the rest.

You are learning amazing things already in your walk with god! It is so encouraging to watch you grow. My mother has always told me that compassion is not one of my strong points. I figured she was right, but I never linked that to my pride and legalistic attitude that God has been working on for a long time. I want God to replace my judgemental attitude with compassion like Jesus'. Thanks do mh for sharing what God is teaching you. Hearing something I know said a different way, really helps me to learn it even more. Thanks!

It's hard to always have compassion, I think the most you can do its to try your hardest to have compassion. But at the same time maybe it's a work in progress so you can retrace your steps and fill in the compassion when it's missing. If that makes sense. I wish you a compassionate week :)

Oh, girl! I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes, I pop off without thinking twice about it. Uncontrollably. I get so frustrated, so anxious, so touchy. I don't mean to: it doesn't come consciously! Wow, the enemy really knows how to work on us. I'll be praying with you!

Compassion is so, so important! And my post about Jason Russell a few weeks ago proved that so many of us are trying to remind ourselves of that daily. I received an overwhelmingly positive response to the post. Although we've all judged before, we can help each other show compassion.

You are wonderful, Aunie! (And your outfit was cute too!)

I love hearing about your walk (anyone's really). I've always been told that it's good to struggle with things because it shows that God is at work in our hearts. It is really a mark of humility to ask for prayer and help, and I am so glad that God is doing such a work in your life.
