BeauTrichful Magazine

BeauTrichful Magazine, Trichotillomania support magazine

Every quarter, a new edition of BeauTrichful Magazine is released—a publication from HelpMe2Stop.org that strives to increase trichotillomania awareness and help those suffering connect to people who can help provide services and treatment at lower costs.

Since BeauTrichful Magazine has been released, I've read every edition, and even have had feature articles in their Spring 2013 and Summer 2013 editions. This quarter, I was lucky enough to be chosen as the cover and feature story for the Autumn 2013 release. Inside the magazine, you'll see my article about how trich is my "gift", read inspirational stories from many other people who also have trich, check out a makeup tutorial for creating thicker lashes, and see tons of before and after photos of people who are making changes in their lives to overcome this disorder.

If you're interested in giving back or helping support this amazing organization, click here for a variety of opportunities. I'm so grateful for this magazine and the support and awareness it's bringing to the trichotillomania community. Please take a moment to read the Autumn 2013 edition of BeauTrichful Magazine below. Enjoy!

In the past month or so, a lot has happened. I turned 27, we bought and moved into a new home, my dad got engaged, we sold our SUV and are now sharing a vehicle, and I've been running my heart out in preparation for my first marathon in under a month. That's a lot!

But I think the biggest surprise came this morning when I got a text from a friend that said, "Chic of the Week again?!? I think that makes you Chic of the YEAR!" And there's only one thing I know of in regards to "Chic of the Week," so I immediately got the biggest smile on my face and clicked over to Lauren Conrad's blog. And there it was... the Chic of the Week.

Lauren Conrad Chic of the Week: Aunie's Cute Hair Cut

I was featured for my haircut that I did on the spur-of-the-moment the day before my 27th birthday. What an honor! I've been a member of LC's blog community for over a year and a half, and I'm always uploading my photos into her gallery—and that's how they found out about my haircut & chose me as their Chic! You can seem my LaurenConrad.com profile here, and to join the community, click here—you never know, you may be featured as their next Chic of the Week! To read the full Chic of the Week post, click here!

To Allison on Team LC, thank you so much for your kind words and for choosing to feature me and my haircut! To Lauren & the rest of Team LC, thank you so much for your support ... it means so much to be chosen as your Chic... again! It's such an honor to be featured among all the other talented women on LaurenConrad.com. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

Apricot Lane Fashion Party

Apricot Lane Fashion Party
My mint vest: c/o Jachs, Top: Nikibiki for Apricot Lane, Shorts: SF Blue, Sandals: Steve Madden (similar)

Yesterday evening, I went to Apricot Lane in the Boise Towne Square Mall for a fashion party. I co-hosted the event with Tanya of Style Spy Girl and Kelly, the manager of the store. We shopped, tried on all sorts of fun styles, chatted with customers, and ate delicious snacks and treats.

I—the self-proclaimed "not a fan of shopping"—actually ended up buying six tops. SIX! Apricot Lane was having some awesome mark-downs, and the whole store was also 20% off for the event, so I took home quite a few new treasures—two Nikibiki tanks in black and white, two black tees (one scoop and one v-neck), a neon yellow tee and an amazing leopard sweater that you'll see in photos below. So there it is—putting it on the record—I went shopping!

Here are some photos from the fun event!

This is Amy, who reads Aunie Sauce & came to meet me and say hi! Not only did we hit it off right away, but after the event we shopped a bit more and she helped me pick out a skirt at a different store! And is her cat tank awesome or what?

Tanya's top: Apricot Lane, Jeans: Mavi, My top: Jealous Tomato, Shorts: Dear John Hampton Short

One of the most fun things about co-hosting with Tanya was that our personal style preferences were so different. She's incredibly fashion-forward, chic and professional, and I'm very laid-back, and comfy casual. Tanya refers to us as, "downtown chic and beach-side boho," which I just love. These were our two favorite picks for outfits, and while hers is very posh and put-together, mine is very casual and hip. Oh, and that's the sweater that I bought—it has faux leather panels on the shoulders and is incredibly comfortable!

Thanks again to Apricot Lane for the fun Fashion Party!

PS / / Speaking of shopping, I'm featured in an interview on Shop At Home's website! Check it out here, and have a lovely weekend!

The YES TO STYLISTA Experience

Yes To Carrots Yes To Stylista

9-months ago in early October, I took a leap of faith and entered a competition with Yes To, in hopes of becoming their next Yes To Stylista. After making it into the Top 10 of the photo submission round, we were asked to make a video and I sent that off in late October, yet again crossing my fingers. On November 9, they announced their big winner—and it was me! I was floored!! The prize came with a $1,000 cash award, a trip to San Francisco to meet the Yes To crew, and a 6-month guest blogging spot on their Tumblr.

On December 1 (also our wedding day), I began my 6-month Yes To Stylista journey. What did it involve? Basically, I received products in the mail, tried them all out (all of which were amazing and motivated me to throw out all my old and non-natural garbage), and then I blogged about it! I wrote a couple posts a month for the Yes To blog, and even made a video. In January, I was flown out to San Francisco for my big 3-day trip to meet the team and receive the royal pampering treatment! I blogged about that trip here and here, and made a video about the trip here. That was the trip of a lifetime, and the Yes To team was the most amazing group of people. I truly felt like I was one of them, and I was treated with such kindness and generosity!

Since the trip, I've kept in contact with the crew via email/instagram, and I've continued my guest-blogging adventures. My 6-months expired on June 1, and looking back, I'm just incredibly thankful and blessed for this once-in-a-lifetime chance. It's been an amazing time and I'm so thankful for every single opportunity that Yes To has given me. I made friends, I tried wonderful products, I got to reach out to a bigger audience and new group of people, and I just tried to take in every moment!

If you ever, ever have a chance to enter a contest or step outside of your comfort zone in order to win something big (or small), my only advice is just do it. You never know where that next step will take you.

To the Yes To team—thank you guys so much. The past months have been a dream-come-true and I'm so grateful for all you've done for me. You treated me like a part of your Carrot family, and totally spoiled me rotten. I am forever thankful for everything and for this amazing opportunity. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

In case you missed any of them, here is a recap of all my Yes To posts!

My posts on Yes To's blog:

My own Yes To Stylista promo posts (which recap their Tumblr posts with additional fun stories/commentary) & other posts that didn't make their blog:

And now—just one more for old times' sake—what do YOU say "yes" to? Thanks again, Yes To, Inc!! ♥♥♥

Yes To Travel Essentials

Travel Essentials

Today's post is so bittersweet! I'm sharing one of my last Yes To Stylista posts from the Yes To blog (I'll have one more—my Stylista wrap-up post—coming soon)!

This was one of my favorite posts to date. I created a list of my six favorite Yes To products to tote with you while traveling. They're convenient, they're affordable, and they're small so they'll easily fit in your travel bag!  You can read the full post and why I love each product (especially that little zit-zapping roller) HERE!

What are a few products that you absolutely couldn't travel without? My top 3 would be lip balm, mascara and body butter!

Yes To Earth Month

celebrate earth week with Yes To

April is Earth Month... and what a month it's been! I swear I've been outside every chance I could get—exploring, biking, hiking, dining on patios, and just taking it all in. Last week, I posted on the Yes To blog about what I'd be doing during Earth Week (April 22 was Earth Day). To read my post, Yes To Celebrating Earth Week, click the link!

Yes To Glowing Skin

steps for glowing skin

It's no fun waking up with crunched eyelashes and pores full of makeup. I know I'm not the only one who has gone to bed with my makeup on—too tired (and lazy) to take a minute to wash it off. This year, I promised myself that I would stick to a nightly routine and wash my face and moisturize each night before I go to bed. What I didn't realize about this routine was how awesome it would make my skin look and feel!

This morning, I opened up my Bloglovin' feed and was greeted with the biggest surprise. MYSELF! Not only that, but myself featured as Lauren Conrad's Chic of the Week!

Lauren Conrad Chic of the Week, Annelise's Flirty Florals

My mouth dropped! This is a huge honor! If I were to pick one style icon, it would be Lauren Conrad and I'm so blessed that she & her team chose me this week! Thank you thank you!

A little background on the photo? Daniel took it last May on a Sunday and we had just gotten back from church. I love that vintage Ralph Lauren shirt because I purchased it from a thrift store for about $6.00! The pastel florals are perfect for spring.

To be honest, this just gave me a perma-smile that I don't see going away anytime soon. If you want to see the post, click here

Yes To Tips

yes to carrots tips

Being the Yes To Stylista for Yes To, Inc. has its perks. I've gotten to try so many of their products, and I've found a bunch of new favorites in each of their body, face, lip and hair lines. Did you know that they have different natural fruit & veggie products that center around cucumbers, blueberries, grapefruits, tomatoes and carrots?  I use all the lines, depending on the day and what I'm looking to combat!

I've also found that I like their products so much that I go through them rather quickly. I think it's because I use their products for so many things. To me, chapstick is not just chapstick. A lotion tub is not just a lotion tub... there are tons of other uses for these products, and today, I'm showing you 4 of my Yes To Tips to maximize your bang for your buck. Click here to read the full post!

A couple months ago when the calendar switched over to 2013, I shared some personal resolutions as well as some hair and skincare resolutions. I have a new post up on the Yes To blog—it focuses on motivation to keep on top of those resolutions, staying healthy, and being your best you! To read the post, click here!

A New Day

Ring: c/o The Vintage Pearl // Glasses: c/o Firmoo

love faith hope laughter family sauce

The most beautiful part of life is that every day you are given the chance to start over. To try again. To be the person who you were meant to be. Today, I hold strong to these values & important things in my life. Today, I hold nothing back. Today, I'm free.

That feeling when your husband holds you so tight after a rare disagreement and you know that nothing will ever, ever tear you apart. Through all the tears and the struggles, you remember how incredibly special what you two have together really is.

Knowing that you are not in charge. Believing in something bigger than yourself is so powerful. It gets me through many of the hard times to know that He is there with me, He protects me, He saved me.

Through the prayers, actions, and progress every day, I know I'm making a difference in the changes I'm trying to make. Hope is what keeps me going.

The best medicine, in addition to hugs and cuddles.

Coming together as one and starting fresh and anew. Nothing is more important to me than family.

Today's "sauce" is that my amazing brother-in-law, Andy (who did our wedding photos), has started a blog called Good Man Friday. It's about all of his favorite things: inspiration, photography, life's little pleasures, and he's even starting a blogging consultation business (he's a genius). He was so sweet to write about me today... and he's even doing a giveaway for a $25 Visa gift card! Go say hello to him & give him a follow ♥

Yes to Stylista!

Happy Friday!

You guys... you guys,
Yes To Carrots announced the winner of their
Yes To Stylista
contest today...

Me... Holy Moses.
I don't even know what to say!
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!
I am honored, amazed, so thankful, and most-definitely shaking... and maybe crying a little.
OK, you know me better than that. I'm crying a lot.
This is an honor.

Here's the story—
It started with a contest... that I heard about through the grapevine from my amazing friend, Danielle.
She mentioned that Yes To Carrots was looking for their next "Stylista" to represent the brand.
Knowing me and my Bye Bye Beehive project, she immediately emailed me and suggested I enter.
I submitted my photo and asked you guys to vote.
You did! I'll be forever grateful.

With the help of your votes, I made it to the Top 10,
and was then sent a bunch of Yes To products, and asked to make a 2-minute video.
I have no idea how to do videos,
so I enlisted my trusty friend and photographer, Taylor, to help me out.
I submitted the video back in the end of October... and then waited.
And waited and waited for what seems like eons.

Today, we got the news.
The news that I won.
I am floored. Excited. Blessed. Overwhelmed. Thrilled... so thrilled.
THIS is only the beginning.

So, would you like to see my video? It's about time I showed you.
Then, after watching mine, please go watch the videos and say hi to the other finalists (who are amazing).
I don't know how they decided. Each video was unique, well-done, and so entertaining!

And then... just for fun...
Originally, I had wanted to include one of my backflips (shown before here),
but once the editing process began, it was clear that there wasn't a good place for it.
So guess what?
You get to see it now. Consider it an "outtake."
Backflip in 3, 2, 1—

Aunie Sauce readers, thank you!
Thanks for voting, for visiting me each day, and for being a huge part of my story.
Do you know what?
Tomorrow, November 10, 2012, is my one-year Aunie Sauce blogging anniversary.
This is the coolest and most amazing way to celebrate.

Yes To—thank you guys so much.
I can't even tell you about the tears of excitement that streamed down my face when I found out.
I'm still in shock.
I'm so excited and honored to be the next Yes To Stylista!
I can't wait to see what this next chapter brings.

Until then—what do YOU say YES to?

all over the place

Bracelets: c/o Payton Woodcraft and Chloe vs. Tank // Photos: Taylor Love Studios

Lately, I've been all over the place.
Mentally, physically, emotionally.

Despite being emotionally and spiritually revived this weekend,
I felt like I was dragging my feet all day Monday and yesterday.
I. am. exhausted.
In fact, last night I totally passed out early on the couch and didn't budge all night.

There's just a lot going on right now.
I'll be talking about it soon...
just waiting for the pieces to fall into place.
Weekly plans, wedding plans, life plans.
We're making some big changes over here, and it's all a little overwhelming.
But don't worry, I'm not stressing!
Just excited about all the new things that each day is bringing.

Also, I've been doing a lot of "blog traveling."
You know, guest posting here and there, there and here.

Want to catch up?

Check out:

I just love you guys.
Thanks for always being there.
Thanks for your never-ending support.
Thanks for coming back day after day.
This story isn't ending anytime soon.

On My Heart ♥

Necklace c/o: Ashlee Alaine Designs

I've been called saucy,
and swanky.

But under all the zebra print,
glitter, and confetti...
my favorite thing to write about is what's on my heart.

It's usually love.
Just saying.

But in case you'd like to catch up on my more heartfelt posts,
I've collected them all here for you.
You lucky duck.
Pulling Back

PS> Today I'm featured on my good friend Matt's blog. He's a Christian, he has a heart for missions, and eventually he is going to move to Mexico and change lives with the power of God. Give him a visit today, read his kind words about me, and show him some saucy love!

Aunie Sauce

What's on your heart today? I'll give you one hint about what (or who) I'm thinking about. Starts with a D and is 6 letters. Obvious?
