Doubt Your Doubts

Doubt Your Doubts

I listened to a message at church this last Sunday that was so powerful and I wanted to share it with you. Regardless of whether you share the same beliefs as me or not, this can apply to you. It's so simple—so beautiful—and so incredibly profound.
"Doubt your doubts. Believe your beliefs."
How many times have I found myself worrying about the little things (or the big things) and placing too much emphasis on things that I've created in my head—things that aren't even real? Too much time. I can tell you that for sure—whether it's about my marriage, my career, my future, my social interactions, my past mistakes... I have spent way too much time wasted in doubt and worry.

Already this week I found myself creating lies, made-up situations, and worry within myself over things that aren't even true... so what did I do? I told myself, "Doubt your doubts." Sometimes I have to repeat it over and over. Doubt your doubts... doubt your doubts... doubt your doubts.

Because that's all that they are—doubts. They are not real. They are not worth it. Believe your beliefs. Believe what you know. Believe what is true and right in front of you. It's so simple, yet so powerful. It's my mantra right now, and it's a game-changer, I promise. When you have that little bit of confidence in yourself to rid the doubts from your mind, you can conquer anything.

Doubt your doubts.

Aunie, remember me? I'm the prodigal emailer that you effectually talked off a cliff back in December dealing with all my doubts. I definitely still owe you that follow-up, but in short, things are going really well. And a large part of it is because I learned to get out of my own head (which can really be such a scary place!) and just find peace with my true beliefs. You had a huge part of that, you need to know that. I'll email you later this week. Thanks for this, and all, your posts. Your honesty is exhilarating.

Thank you. I so needed that right now. It's been a week full of doubts, not just about myself but about the people in my life. Gut feeling says one thing, the heart doesn't want to move on. I've been in and out of a rut for two weeks now, and I so needed to see that. To have faith and believe again. Thank you.

I love this. It's not worth worrying over the little things anyway and I am always doubting myself. I really need to practice this. Thank you for sharing, Aunie.

I think faith is the only truly concrete thing we can have... which is so hard for people to believe :)

Thank you SO MUCH, Christine!!! That means a lot to me. Oh, don't worry about not replying back... you get to it when you get to it. I'll be here either way to help or talk to whenever you need it!

Uh, you caught me. I took this photo last year :) Wishful thinking, maybe!

Ugh... other people! That's the biggest thing I doubt, too! The only person you can control is yourself, you know? At least that's one good thing to be in control of :) hoping you keep believing your beliefs this week!

That's awesome. Thanks so much, Megan :)

Thanks Melinda!! :) That's the truth. If there's one thing we KNOW we will encounter, it's change!

Thank you so much for this! I needed this reminder. I have been struggling a lot the last couple of weeks and I appreciate you sharing this. I have an obsession with quotes and I have a notebook where I write quotes down so here are a couple I want to share. "Nurture your mind with great thoughts." and "You are NEVER without the perfect love and endless support of God."
Thank you for the encouragement Aunie!

Thank you, Krysten. I'm so sorry to hear that things aren't totally peachy right now... if you need someone to talk to, I'm always here for you. And if not, just remember--DOUBT YOUR DOUBTS!! Thinking of you!

I love this - one of my favorite quotes from church recently "doubt your doubts before you doubt your faith."
