Just Because Friday: My Awesome Dad

I can't have a JBC Friday all about my mom
and then NOT
highlight my amazing Dad, can I?
No siree!

My dad and I have a great relationship.
We are buddies for sure.
In the graduation photo above, that's my grandma with us!
In the photo of him and his lady above, that's his beautiful girlfriend, Karen.
They are two golfing, traveling, awesome peas in a pod.

My dad is super cool,
and I'm really lucky to be his daughter.
I think it's safe to say I'm one of his biggest fans,
best friends,
and I'm for sure his favorite oldest daughter.

I love you Dad!

 ♥ Love, your Icy.

Thursday 13: Thankful

I am thankful for:
  1. Daniel.
  2. My family.
  3. My Rowe family.
  4. My new Harvest family.
  5. My blogging family. I am so thankful for EACH of you! The wonderful ladies I interact with on a daily basis like Michele, Lindsay, Lot, Miranda, Kristen, Jenna, Jessica, Cat, Chloe, Lily, Eesh... just to name a few! Wow the list literally could go on and on. I love you ALL!
  6. My car, which gets me from point A to point B, and is a lot nicer and more wonderful than I could have ever imagined—or afforded.
  7. Books. Daniel and I are currently reading Heaven is For Real by Todd Burpo. We are taking turns reading it out loud to each other. We don't want to put it down. It's beautiful, inspiring, wonderful.
  8. Support from those around me (who feed me, eat my food, and dine out with me) as I try to figure out whether I'm gluten intolerant, lactose intolerant, possibly both, or if it's something different entirely. I know my tummy gives us all problems and you all are so great for understanding!
  9. The power of prayer. I learned the Monday after the day I gave my heart to Jesus, that Daniel's mom's kids (she's a 2nd and 3rd grade teacher) had been praying for me each and every day. It turns out, a LOT of people had been praying for me. I know that their prayers were answered that day!
  10. My job. I'm a development assistant at a Boise non-profit hospital. I know I take it for granted a lot of the time, and I tend to get a bit down about it... but, boy-oh boy—I have a job! My job gives me insurance! My job lets me work with fun ladies! My job makes a difference! My job is wonderful!
  11. Vacations! Daniel and I just booked a trip to Palm Desert in mid-April and I can't be more thankful that we have the financial ability to travel, but that our schedules will allow it, and that we get to go to a beautiful place and relax and explore!
  12. Spring blossoms. Spring is my 2nd favorite season. It's simply so beautiful and I just love driving or walking around and seeing all the cute little buds and blossoms on the trees. It really brightens my day.
  13. Mistakes. This one might sound weird, because you may think, "Why would I be thankful for something I have done wrong?" However, lately I'm learning how each of my mistakes has made me not only who I am, but a better person. I'm beginning to understand how God has a plan for each of us, and that plan includes our mistakes, whether we mean to make them or not. Each mistake, no matter how significant, has a purpose. Though we might not understand them at the moment, we can always know that God has a plan. That is beautiful, comforting, and makes each moment make even more sense.

Nostalgic Jewelry

A couple weeks ago, my mom and I went through all her old jewelry and I helped her decide what to get rid of, and what I absolutely needed to add to my jewelry stash.

I found an awesomely-80's necklace that my mom claimed to have worn all the time while she was pregnant with me and my sister from '86-'87. It's kind of big, but I'm pretty sure with the right white top or ensemble it could really make a statement.

Growing up, us kids always had to wear ID bracelets in case we got lost. My mom had a whole pile of them! It was so cool to go back through them and see all our old addresses and how tiny our wrists used to be!

I also found some awesome mink earrings that I opted not to take home. Those are just a little too "out there" for my tastes.

It was so fun to sit down and listen to stories from all the fun times my mom used to have while wearing all that jewelry. I took home a pretty nice amount of jewelry, from costume accessories to some sweet sterling pieces. I can't wait to incorporate these vintage pieces into my daily mix!
Thanks, Mom! ♥

Doubt

// Jacket: Thrifted F21 // Top: Thrifted F21 // Tank: Hollister //

Years ago,
I used to mock religion.
Blatantly.
Offensively.
Poorly.
I had doubt in myself,
I didn't know God,
and I was told over and over how
evolution
was the way it happened.

I had a person in my life who told me that people who believed,
who had faith,
who knew an entity greater than themselves, were
brainwashed.
I believed that person.

Last year, I met a person
who believed something
different.
He believed in God.
He knew Jesus died for our sins.
He believed in me.

He believed in me when I questioned by feelings about evolution.
He believed in me when I countered his beliefs, thinking I knew it all.
He believed in me when I went with him to church, just to be supportive.
He believed in me when I encountered the Holy Spirit for the first time, last December.
He believed in me on March 18th when I went forward to be prayed for.
He believed in me when I opened my heart to Jesus.
And you know what?
I BELIEVE that he will believe in me every step of the way.

I have already encountered those who doubt,
who think I'm going through a phase,
who have called me a hypocrite.
And I don't blame them.
But I do intend to show them that this new step
is just the first step.
This is a lifestyle change—
and soon enough, those who doubt will see it in me.

I'm so thankful for that person who knew it was inside me all along.
He never doubted me.
He knew it would happen.
He helped me find God.

Thank you, Daniel.
I would not be where I am today without you.
That is so true in more ways than anyone but us will ever know.
Each day when I pray, I thank God for you.

We are best friends.
She is my role model, my inspiration
and pretty darn cute, huh?
If that's what I have to look forward to,

Type Talk

Photobucket

I've been getting a lot of requests to make a vlog lately.
Despite the fact that in person, I truly do have a slightly lazy right eye
AND
I whistle my "S" sounds.
I do. Really.
It's adorable to me that some of you actually, really, truly want to see that in action.
You must just be silly ♥

Also, I feel like you don't really need to see me vlog.
Aren't animated GIF's good enough?
In fact, I feel like my text talks for itself.

I mean, I'm fairly certain that I do a nice job of using
CAPITAL LETTERS, italics, and BIG FONT to show when I'm excited about something.
Can't you PICK UP the INFLECTIONS in my writing?

No?

Well, then, I guess I'll have to seriously consider it.
Maybe.

The Boyfriend Shirt.

// T-shirt: Boyfriend's // Pants: Target // Belt: Express // Shoes: Black Poppy //
// Bracelets: Fossil and Payton Woodcraft //

St. Patty's Day this year came and went, and it couldn't have been more perfect.

I hit the gym early in the morning for a bootcamp and then played an hour and a half of racquetball.
I went home and took an amazing 2-hour nap.
I got all dressed in my green, realized it didn't fit (too small and tight), so I borrowed Daniel's shirt, which coincidentally was too small for him this year. Despite the fact that it was a boy's shirt, I still felt comfortable and confident.
Daniel and I went to dinner with his parents at our favorite local Asian restaurant.
We went home and enjoyed an evening cuddling on the couch and watched The Island.

Family, food, and love... what more can you ask for?

Oh— and in case you were wondering, the last photo is my attempt at a four-leaf clover. Needless to say, it didn't work. Either way, Happy first day of SPRING!!

SAVED

I will remember yesterday,
March 18, 2012 for the rest of my life.

It was the day I was saved by Jesus Christ.
I was surrounded by a few good friends, new and old,
who held my hands,
cried amazing big tears,
and witnessed me ask Jesus into my heart.

I have never felt so much love.

Have YOU been saved?

Just Because: 100th Post

HAPPY 100th POST DAY!

It's my 100th post.
I'm kind of excited.
100 posts since November 10th, 2011.
Not bad, eh?

And now, for Just Because Friday,
here's a couple photos from November, 2007
of me and my sister after a Boise State football game.
I was a Boise State cheerleader,
she was a cheerleader for the University of Idaho.
We were "rival sisters" and even made it into the newspaper a couple times.
It was a fun couple of years.

I have a feeling that there will be a lot of "cheer"
photos making appearances on JBC Friday.
And I'm OK with that.

xoxo
