Yes, I'm in the Military—Yes, I Still LOVE Camo

I've been told that now that I'm in the military—there will come a time when I no longer find camouflage to be fashionable. I suppose if your day-to-day uniform is an ABU (Airman Battle Uniform), this could be true. But for me? I'm still sitting at a civilian desk during my workday and taking the traditional Air National Guard one-weekend-a-month route, so camo is still totally "in" in my book. Plus, add a leopard top for a little pattern mixing and it's a total win/win.

The camouflage ring I'm wearing is from Emitations, and while they have some beautiful and blingy jewelry that's very eye-catching, I was particularly drawn to their collection of men's rings. In fact—I was initially asked to take a look at one of their sparkly large cocktail rings—but you guys know me and know it just isn't my style. But a heavy tungsten men's ring that lasts forever, doesn't scratch, and has a bit of a camo flair? I was all over it.

Double camo + leopard for the win!

I always love camo on other people but can never make it work on me. You look super cute!

I am so glad I found your blog. I too suffer from Trich...have since I was 11, so that's almost 20 years now. Crazy to think about. I found you via a Trich search on Pinterest. You are doing amazing! i hope to get there. Also, I was born in Boise and my parents still live there. :-) www.styleoyster.blogspot.com

That ring is too cute! I remember seeing you post the picture on instagram (in fact, it just popped up on your little rotating photo stream over there). I've never been a camo person, but you're rocking it!

Love that ring. You look beautiful, as always. I would have never thought to pair camo and leopard print.

Love this post. There's some truth behind the whole camo thing when you're in the military. I used to be all about camo and military-style jackets, boots, etc. because I loved the edgy, tough girl look. Now... ehh, not so much. Cute on other girls, but I personally tend to steer clear of anything that resembles clothing I was issued. :) I will say that's a creative combo you've got there! And fine, I admit I love that ring!

Haha, so "creative" could either mean good or bad... you don't have to tell me which it is! And yep... I haven't received any of my issued camo gear, but at least the Air Force has the new desert camo versus the darker traditional kind... though I do love that traditional pattern.

What?! That's SILLY expensive just to visit Boise! No wonder you don't come often. Well taking a visit to your state sounds good to me. Near the ocean? I'll take it!

It's OK! Haha... you just never know :) I know my choices don't always work for everyone

Thanks a huge compliment coming from you, Miss Fashionista. Thanks!

HAHAHAHAHA you noticed! I've been such a slacker lately. Honestly. With Air Force stuff every month, we can't have them done for Student Flight so I've just been skipping it. Don't hate me!

Thanks Krysten!! It was a Secret Santa gift, of all things. Aren't I lucky? :)

this is really cute! i'm not usually a big fan of camo, but this works. your hair is really cute, by the way. i love it short. i know it's been that way for a while, but it looks really nice in this pic.

That's so great! I did not know y'all were doing that, but catching the update after the fact is really fun! The idea of *simplicity* is enough to sell me on that idea right there. Right now, with my brother staying with me, he is using my car when he needs to drive, but like you said, it has been pretty easy to adjust over the past month. I come home in the evenings, pick him up when he needs to be picked up, and he asks if he can take the car if he needs to go somewhere -- and sometimes if I need it instead, he stays home or comes with me. It's SO nice! I really enjoy the change. I am so glad you and Daniel are enjoying this time, as well! :)

Thanks so much, Lesley! I'm finally at that spot where it works down or up, and can even fit into a tiny messy bun. Finally... a happy length!

It is fun :) We do the same kind of thing, we ride everywhere together and then if we have extra errands (a bit of shopping, going to the PO box, etc) we just either go with each other or then enjoy some time alone. It's really helped us grow closer together :)

Hate you? LOL no way. However, I fully expect once Student Flight is over, you are back to your regular routine of nail awesomeness. ;)

I'll try to fulfill my end of that bargain :)
