THE WEDDING

Our wedding. December 1, 2012. The best day of my life.

Daniel's Best Men—brothers Ian & Adam, the groom himself, and his groomsman, my brother Stewart.

My bridesmaid and friend, Shaye, and my Matron of Honor and sister, Marnie.
Flowers: courtesy of Rustic Living.

My dad walked me down the aisle. I walked to Hillsong's "Joy to the World."

Our two families.

Guestbook: courtesy of The Guestbook Store.

Ian's Best Man toast.

Adam's Best Man Toast. I don't think these two brothers could have made us laugh harder. During my sister's toast, we sang a little bit of "Sisters, Sisters" from White Christmas. She totally made me cry.

My new brother, Adam.

Cutting the cake! The cake on the left is a Norwegian wedding cake, also known as a Kransekake (krun-seh-cock-eh). The tradition is that you pull up from the top and how ever many rings you pull off from the cake is the number of children you will have. Daniel and I—lucky ducks—couldn't actually get any of the rings to pull apart when we attempted it. It was frosted together a bit too tight (sabotage from our parents, I tell you), so it's now our family's greatest wish that Daniel and I will be expecting eighteen children. Oh, sweet joy.

It was the happiest day... so much love. I'm so thankful for everyone who helped and who came to bless us in our new life together. This is just the beginning of our beautiful life.

PS>> Our photographer was my brother-in-law, Andy Petek. He is amazing. If you're in the Northwest and looking for a wedding photographer for 2013, he's booking now. He will travel to Washington (he lives in Seattle), Idaho and Oregon. Email him at andypetek(at)gmail(dot)com for rates and to see portfolio samples.

Congratulations!! I am so happy for you too. It looks like an amazing wedding. I love the idea of the Norwegian cake. I am part Norwegian and for my birthdays my day used to sing "Happy Bday" in Norwegian so this looks like something I might do at my wedding.

You and your hubby are so cute,
Cody

You are gorgeous! I was super excited thinking you were a Seattle blogger too, but then I read your "About Me" :) Anyway, that cake tradition is really cool too, I love when people blend traditions into their special day making it even more special and unique to them.

And the fact that y'all sang some of "Sister Sister" from "White Christmas," at your Christmasy wedding, was just precious, and made me feel a bit choked up myself.

What an amazing wedding! The photos are gorgeous. I can't get over the fact that the number of groomsman didn't match the number of bridesmaids - I love that. Who says it's got to be even? :D You both obviously picked the people most important to you.

Kelly, thank you so much. That means a lot. And thanks for commenting on THIS post, of all past posts. Looking over the photos again made me all teary!

Megan said...

Oh my goodness! Your dress is gorgeous!!! What a beautiful day!

Annelise Rowe said...

Thank you, Megan! Can you believe it was my mom's? No alterations (except for cutting off the moldy sleeves)!

Megan said...

No way...really?! It's gorgeous! Hopefully your daughter can carry on the tradition! :)

Annelise Rowe said...

Yes, really! I didn't even need to have it taken up or anything! I hope she can, too... though it will be REALLY old by then!

Megan said...

OK...well maybe just use the lace or something. :) I don't want my daughter to wear mine cause it's huge and I don't want her to fit into it. But, I am saving it just in case she wants to incorporate it into hers or something like that.

Annelise Rowe said...

That's a wonderful reason to save it. I have a friend who just took her mom's bottom half and created her own top half. It was beautiful!
