Basic Makeup Tutorial

Basic Makeup Tutorial

Today's post is a first... a video makeup tutorial! I've gotten quite a few requests to demonstrate how I do my makeup, including how I do my winged eyeliner and smoky eyeshadow, so today's tutorial takes all my basic makeup tricks and fits them into a 7-minute video... Enjoy!

Loved it! I love watching people's make up tutorials because everyone does it differently. Thanks for sharing! This is going to sound like a silly question-but what brushes do you use? I've been thinking I might just need to invest in a good set of them besides just using e.l.f.

Allison, what a great question. I think I should add that! I use Mary Kay brushes for the eyeshadow and a combination of brushes from Sephora for my face. I'm going to add that in and let you know when it's up!

Pretty Pretty:)

OK got them in! My favorite favorite out of all of them is the Sonia Kashuk bronzer brush. I could use that for EVERYTHING... it doesn't shed and blends really well over all. I got mine from Target :)

how does it feel.... to treat me like you do...

I was singing along with it. LOL! I wear my makeup just like this! Except I use BB cream so I can cover the flaws. xoxo

Looks perfect on you :)

Is that your favourite mascara? I meant to ask you if you'd used Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara and what your thoughts were? I need to buy some more, soon and I figured you were the expert! :)

You are so adorable! :) Thanks for sharing your tips.

Kristen, you're the best! And you... take tips from me? You're the cat-eye QUEEN!!!

Thanks girlfriend. This was a fun one to do... maybe I should do more? Who knows :)

Thanks Natalie! And ha! I've had the song stuck in my head ALL DAY. I always have the most fun picking songs for these videos... you just never know what you're going to get!

Shannon... YES YES YES YES YES! Covergirl's Professional Super Thick Lash (in a red tube... and longest name EVER) is definitely my favorite. I've tried SO MANY mascaras. At one point a couple years ago, I had over 60 tubes of mascara!! And this one is my favorite. It gives good volume, layers like a pro without clumps, and just makes my lashes nice and thick and long. Overall, it's just amazing. I have wanted to branch out and try others, but each time I do, I always come back to this one. It's not very waterproof... but I don't buy the waterproof version, so that's that. I haven't ever tried Smashbox Full Exposure, but I have heard good things. I tend to ALWAYS prefer drugstore mascaras, but that's just me :)

Your skin is flawless! I'd love to see a skin care video :)

Thanks for sharing.
I wear little to no makeup, because the other tutorials I've watched take so long and I normally don't have more than 5 minutes, but this video shows that it's possible to get a nice makeup in just a little over 5 minutes...

You are so cute!!! I love this makeup routine! Simple and quick! Something I could definitely handle :)
Also, looove that song!!! Made my morning. I need a pick me up! Also, your lashes are GORGEOUS!!!!

I'm going to go pick it up and try it! I don't like waterproof mascara, as I want it to come off easily, so that's perfect! Thanks so much!

Carly, I recommend it 100%. I got it in one of Sephora's VIB point perk packages, and never thought I'd use it. I never used to understand how to use bronzer, and once I learned, I needed a smaller one that would fit in my makeup bag (since my bag isn't very big). I tossed that one in and I've loved it ever since. It's not orange AT ALL and blends super-easily. Plus Tarte is cruelty free and super-natural... can't beat that!

Teija, thank you so much for that request! I've never thought about doing a skin care video... like what products I use? Or more in-depth of face makeup? :)

Thank you, Andrea! I really, really wanted this one to be shorter... like 5-minutes, but didn't want to leave anything out. My normal routine is like yours... less than 5 minutes, so I'm so glad you enjoyed this! I should do a daily makeup one sometime :)

Thank you SO MUCH!! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. It is more than I normally do, but you're right, still so easy!! Ha! And the song... I was wondering if anyone would notice it was Blue Monday... definitely helped pick me up too!

And thank you about the lashes. I've been working HARD at them!

Annelise Rowe said...

Oh I'm so glad. I hope you like it. It's a very, very simple and easy-to-use mascara. No crazy wand, and especially affordable! It's cheapest at Target & Walmart... though isn't everything? :)

You are so adorable! I have a basic makeup routine that I follow but it still isn't my favorite. I may have to try out yours. Also, can we talk about how awesome the Yes To Carrots chapstick is? BECAUSE IT IS GREAT. I love mine so much. It doesn't feel greasy or gross or too much. I also like to use it before putting on lipstick because it makes the color go on better and keeps my lips moisturized. SO good.

Thank you so much! I need to do a video tutorial of my actual daily makeup... which is just bronzer, blush, a swipe of eyeshadow and mascara. That would be the true daily makeup video :) And YESSSS the Y2C Lip Butter is absolutely amazing. Not sticky, lasts forever. What's your favorite flavor? Mine is mint!

Teija said...

Products for sure! :). Actually both would be great!

Love this video! I keep my routine simple and i can rarely find a video that gives me just that! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! I'll work on it!
