Take Care Forward

I've mentioned my job before, but I don't know if I've told you how much I love my job. Well, I do... I love my job. I am a development assistant at a non-profit hospital in Boise. I work 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, get to sit at a desk in my very own beautiful office with a view (and a balcony!), and I work with 9 other brilliant people (one who is a great friend!). You can read more about my job here.

St. Luke's recently put out this promotional video that shows a little bit about our hospital and the work we do in the community. They also asked their 10,000+ employees to submit photos to contribute to it, and you can find me in the video at 2:59 and 3:00 with Daniel & my mom. I really enjoyed this video, because it took everyone who I see in such a professional sense each and every day, and showed just how real we all are.

What do you love about your job?

I work for a non for profit too!

I love that I have the 830a - 4p M-F life, that allows me to have a family, and life.

I love that my job is very family oriented, and praises their workers for being the same.

I love my little office... with my green tree view....
I love the safety here... and that every day I am part of great things!

(But today, I am very happy for my office door... and that I can control my lights... Not feeling awesome today!)

This video is great. Just a question, what did you go to college for?

I KNOW! I think the shirt is actually yellow in person... but MAN it's bright!!

Oh no!! Feel better... hopefully you got to take a nap or something on your lunch break :) I want your schedule... how'd you manage 8:30-4? That's so awesome!! And yay for being family-oriented and safe. Couldn't ask for more! Good for you, Kat!

Thanks Eesh!! It's so good to hear from you :) I think my other favorite thing is blogging... and that's my little at-home hobby :) It's the best of both worlds!

Cynthia, thanks for asking! I received my BS in Health Education & Promotion from Boise State University in 2010. I had an internship with St. Luke's Humphreys Diabetes Center while I was in school, and after I graduated, I was hired at SLHDC. A few months later, my job was transferred to where I'm at now in the Foundation :)

Thanks Krysten! I thought the video was cool too... and I know I didn't make it or anything, but it was still fun to share! :)

Thanks Nicole! It is a great place to work. I really love that we help people!! :)

What a great video! It's my dream one day to work for a non profit!
Right now though, I would have to say I love my job because of how well they treat their employees. Not only do we have the gift of working from home, but they are constantly recognizing success and rewarding us for our hard work. Another great thing? Once I have my degree I am already established and can make my way through the company!
It's wonderful when you love what you do! I always joke that to not really "work" for me because I love it so much!
Thanks for sharing that with us !! :)

How wonderful... your job sounds amazing. Oh, how I would adore to work from home, though I've heard it's much harder than it sounds... which I bet you can attest to! I really think it's wonderful when companies appreciate their employees... how nice that yours does! :) What do you do anyway? You don't have to tell me specifically, I'm just curious! :)

I take sales calls and approve testimonial calls for a large home shopping network. I'm not allowed to say which one but I made it pretty obvious ;) it's seriously the best job I have ever had, and it's my first "real" job! :) so blessed!

Annelise Rowe said...

Wow! Now that sounds like a great job! Good for you! :)

That's awesome! I used to love my job. I worked at St.Lukes hospital in The Wwodlands TX. :)

Thanks! That is such a wonderful transition. I was just curious cause this sounds like something that I would love to do! I am currently the undergrad assistant in the Sociology Department at Penn State Univeristy and I love it but I would love to work for a nonprofit someday.

It's always refreshing to hear people say 'I LOVE MY JOB'. Finding a job you love can be super hard.

I work for a travel company owned by a major Australian airline. I've worked in the tourism industry for over 15 years and get to travel the world. What's NOT to love about that! xx

I love my job!! I'm a tour guide at Paramount Studios. I love meeting new people and I love learning new things about the studio. I'm a huge movie buff and want to be in the entertainment industry. So I'm in heaven :) I'm glad you like your job! It's important to do what you like

Jo, I think that's where our CEO came from... his name is David Pate? Sound familiar? I know he used to be over a St. Luke's in Texas... :)

How wonderful! You know, I don't know what kind of internships (if any) are required for you to graduate, but I definitely recommend having at least one or two under you belt. I was so fortunate that we HAD to have internships, and I felt really lucky to secure a paid internship spot at the time. I would totally recommend one... you never know what doors they can open!

Annelise Rowe said...

WHAAAATTTT... Brooke, that sounds like the best job I've ever heard of! Talk about a perk package! :)

Annelise Rowe said...

What?! I am reading these comments and the people who read my blog have THE COOLEST JOB. Allison, that is SUCH a cool job. Do you see celebs often? I bet you score some sweet swag!! Very very cool job, girl.

Annelise Rowe said...

Thanks so much, Diana! I appreciate that!

Megan said...

Oh cool! I love your office and that A is amazing. Good job Mom! ;)

I should have said, I graduated a few years ago, and I did get the chance for an internship. I agree though it was a great opportunity to work with a company (mine was doing nutrition education for youth). I have my undergrad in Human Development and Family Studies, I spent the last five years working in a daycare and for the past two years I have been in this role. I just was curious what you degree was for transitioning purposes! Thanks for sharing! Love the connections made on here!

You are so cute! Love that video...we work with 10,000 pretty cool people! ;)

I see celebs every so often, generally the same people who work on the lot on a daily basis. Every so often some celeb will come to the lot for a meeting or something. Those days are always fun! I get some free stuff every so often-I got some huge bus stop poster size posters of Star Trek last month. My husband was very happy :)

I love that I get to work in a community of people who love Jesus and love each other! I love that I get to live on campus and walk to meetings. I just love my job too and feel so blessed to have it!

Annelise Rowe said...

Ha! When she gave it to me, I had NO IDEA what to do with it. To the office it went!!

Annelise Rowe said...

Oh nooowww I see! Sorry I'm so slow on the uptake sometimes! Human Development sounds so intriguing. Good for you! And I agree, the connections here are just outstanding.

Annelise Rowe said...

Well I love the fact that we work together. It makes it just that much better!

Annelise Rowe said...

That's awesome! Gotta love the free movie swag!

Annelise Rowe said...

That job is TRULY a blessing. Working in a faith-based job is so wonderful!

Cynthia Meyers said...

Sorry I wasn't completely clear when I was asking, I see how you could have taken it that way! Thanks again!

My job stresses me out but that is just the kind of person I am. I stress about everything. My favorite thing about work is probably that we have such a fun staff. I work at a library and we have a fun committee and it makes things hilarious sometimes. For example: We got cupcakes for Channing Tatum's birthday.

Annelise Rowe said...

Yayyyyy all for the celebration of Channing! Ha! Did they have his face imprinted on them? :) I love libraries. I think I would really enjoy your job... i'm sorry it's stressful!
