The Living Desert

The Living Desert giraffe

On our last day in Palm Desert, Daniel and I visited The Living Desert. It's a zoo and desert nature system that is absolutely incredible. It features desert landscapes from all over the world, as well as many mammals, reptiles and birds that can also be found in desert habitats. We made our way all over the park, exploring the ins and outs and weaving our way through each exhibit.

What amazed us most was all the wildlife that could be found in the park—animals that weren't part of exhibits—just hanging out in the wild. Everywhere we went, we crossed paths with spiny lizards, hummingbirds, butterflies, and lots of different birds.

This is a desert iguana that we found that was in the wild right inside the park.

What a neat park! We arrived at the park at about 10:00 am, so we beat the heat and left just in time to catch some good rays at the pool. We didn't let one moment go to waste during our trip to the desert, that's for sure!

It sure was. I didn't realize how HUGE it was going to be. They had everything there!

You're so fortunate to live in such a desert paradise! Daniel and I figured we would be outside ALL THE TIME if we lived there!

They got so close to me. It was such a neat experience!

What!? Had I known you were that close I would have bugged you to drive down and come swimming or to the living desert with us!

Hey Aunie! I just wanted to tell you that i LOVE your hair dark! It looks awesome!! My fav! :) Although, I am partial to being a brunette! ;)

Aw, thanks so much Danielle! I think this is the longest I've ever kept brunette. It's so easy for me, though my roots keep coming in lighter! I have no idea what the future holds for my hair ... but for now the brunette is fun!
