Neutral.

When it comes to makeup, I usually prefer neutrals. On a daily basis, I use a basic eyeshadow palette, black eyeliner and mascara, a little eyebrow shadow, light coral blush, and I finish it all with powder (to see the exact products I use, click here). It's a really simple beauty routine, and occasionally I'll pump it up with a bit of bright eyeliner, but most days I prefer to just keep it fairly natural—or as natural as wearing makeup can be.

But the one thing—the one thing—I can never convince myself to use? Lipstick. I'm a huge lip balm fan, and the one I use is clear, always keeping my lips their natural color. Every time I use lipstick, I feel like my thin lips completely disappear. I see girls all over wearing these beautiful reds, luscious pinks, and perfectly pouty plums... but they're just not my thing.

What's your "lip" take—do you love neutrals and chapstick like I do? Do you opt for a bold lip? Should I branch out & give bright lips a shot? Let's here it!

I LOVE playing with lipstick! I do have one problem with it though, and that is that my lips are actually quiet pigmented on their own, so sometimes I buy colors and they don't even show up! Usually pretty light pinks and such! On an everyday basis I am a lip balm girl all the way, and that is when their pigment pays off because it looks like I am wearing lipstick haha ;)

I am addicted to carmex! No lipstick or gloss for this girl.... I am never seen without my carmex in hand :)

You are so naturally beautiful, you don't need makeup. :) I also keep my makeup very simple and natural and I don't think bold lip colors look good on me AT ALL. My favorite thing in the world is NARS Lip Pencil. It's a very sheer shimmery gloss that makes my lips look healthy and radiant, but still very natural.

I am a happy medium between neutral and bright. I use a pink lip stain (Stainiac in "beauty queen"), and it adds just "enough" color and honestly looks like natural lips that are on the pinker side. Then I use a shimmer gloss (Model Co. in "strip tease") on top. When the gloss eventually comes off (eating, drinking water, etc.) at least a little color is still there from the stain. If I don't use those items, then I do use clear, and my favorite kind that I just discovered is the Palmer's Cocoa Butter stick, it smells SO amazing. Almost edible. :)

I am a big fan of lipstick. It is my instant way to feel fabulous and pretty. Sometimes I do want plain ol' chapstick or something that is simple and natural. But lipstick is the a great way to feel amazing if you just need a quick pick me up. I own so many lipsticks but some good ones to try are Revlon Lip Butter or Colour Riche Balm. Lip stains are also fun to try out and tend to last way longer. If you want to start wearing lipstick a little bit, a light pink color would probably be a good choice to start out with and make you feel the most comfortable since you're are not used to it.

I also like to keep my makeup fairly neutral for everyday wear and I used to feel the same about lipstick. I just could never bring myself to wearing it. Now, I love it. What's funny is that I first felt I couldn't pull off a red lip and now it's my most favorite lip color. I agree with Katie, lipstick is an instant way to feel fabulous. If I am in a super hurry I will curl my lashes, dab a bit of concealer, pinch my cheeks and grab my Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain in Flame and I am good to go. If you feel self conscious about your lips being thin, try lining them with a lip liner first. Line just outside your lips and it will create the look of a fuller lip. Does that make sense.

I'm more of a chapstick girl. I don't really like lipstick because it's so sticky and doesn't really taste that great... egh. I also use like clear gloss on top of concealer/foundation that I use for nude lips. I'm a big fan of nude lips just because I don't think I can really pull off bold colors. Idk

Whenever I put lipstick on, I can't even make it out the front door without ruining it. So, I just use clear chapstick.

I only JUST started wearing lipstick, but only because I found the perfect shade of red for those va va voom nights. I don't wear it on a daily basis at all though.

I'm a natural girl, too. I have pretty thin lips and a small mouth so I find I don't suit any colours on my lips. I just stick to natural balms and lip tints - those new lip tints that are like marker pens are great, I've found!

I have pretty thin lips as well, so for the longest time I didn't wear anything but sheer or lightly tinted glosses.Over the past year or so though, I've just slowly started buying lip products that were more and more tinted, like the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable lip balms. Those are really buildable and can start out sheer enough for a girl whose comfort zone is nude lips! I also will often use my lipsticks very sheerly. I'll swipe one layer on, and then just blot until the color is light enough for me to be comfortable with. I really think you'd like it if you tried it! I used to be horrified by any color on my lips, but now I often feel naked with just my bare lips!

I, for one, look dead without lipstick. That's the long and short of it! Ha!

I almost always stick to neutral makeup, especially during the week. I usually never go without mascara and a little chap stick...I should probably wear more, but oh well!

lipstick is always hard for me. I usually stick to to a clear gloss but every now and then I find 1 that I love.

I'm the queen of chapstick lol I have wanted to break out in to the pinks and reds for lipsticks but am too nervous to actually take the plunge, like you. Especially because I rarely wear much make up too. Ugh. Girl dilemmas.

I used to never wear lipstick and then I tried the lip marker by covergirl (here's a link http://www.covergirl.com/beauty-products/lip-color/lip-gloss/lip-perfection-jumbo-gloss-balm) and it honestly works incredible! Just a little color too to my lips helps for throughout the day!

Beeeeautiful photos my dear! We seem to have a very similar routine - you know I gotta have my wing but other than that I'm very neutral. I typically only wear chapstick, I hate sticky lipgloss and rarely wear lipstick (maybe 2-3 times a year!) but I just recently picked up Victoria's Secret lip tint/sheen - it feels just like chapstick and the color is pretty much the same as my lips, it's not sticky and just adds a little color. New obsession! Posting about it soon :)

I hardly ever wear lipstick. I can never find a color I'm comfortable with that doesn't make me feel like a clown. So 99.9% of the time I go with chapstick, tinted balm, or tinted gloss.

i used to LOVE carmex but then had a bit of an allergic reaction. then i switched to beeswax balms and found Yes To Carrots... I've been hooked ever since!

You have effortless beauty, Shannon. Seriously! I used a Nars lip pencil for my wedding and LOVED it!

Annelise @ Aunie Sauce said...

Ooh the Palmers. I bet it's great! Thank you so much for your recommendations, Gayle!

Annelise @ Aunie Sauce said...

I'd try the Revlon for sure! I always forget about lipstick when I'm in a rush. I know I can just put it on with a bit of mascara and a bun... but why don't I do it? Maybe I'll try it!

Annelise @ Aunie Sauce said...

It makes complete sense! I need to try it... just like what you just suggested. Mascara. Lips. Bun. Done :) ooh!

Annelise @ Aunie Sauce said...

Your lips are super pretty! I'd recommend lipstick for you... but not quite yet :) You're so youthful and beautiful the natural way!

Annelise @ Aunie Sauce said...

Seems like everyone LOVES Revlon. I think I need to give it a shot!

Annelise @ Aunie Sauce said...

Good suggestion! I think I might also try one of those pH lipsticks that adjusts to the pH of your lips... but I love your tip!

Annelise @ Aunie Sauce said...

It's so hard being a girl, huh? :) You're so cute.

Annelise @ Aunie Sauce said...

I clicked on it and it definitely looks like something I can wear! I love those big pencil sticks!

Annelise @ Aunie Sauce said...

Is it the red stuff you wore in those GORG glamour photos the other day? I loved your lips in that! But really, you're good either way :) And yep, I know you & your wing :) Mine would be ... filled in eyebrows I guess :) ha! or thick mascara :)
