Something to Smile About

You know those days when you're just a little bit down?
Not a lot, not weepy or teary, not stay-at-home-and-bury-under-the-covers,
but you just need a pick-me-up?

That was yesterday.
I found out that, unlike most ladies with military men,
I'll be able to talk to Daniel everyday while he is gone.
Since his training isn't basic training—it's a tech school—
he has a lot more freedom and is able to call me in the evenings.
But, coming from the girl who spends most of my time with him,
this is something that is difficult for me.

When I come home, he's always there.
When I wake up, he's right down the hall.
When I go to work, I know he's only 12 miles away at his job.

I can't imagine him going overseas or being deployed for long periods of time.
For those of you who have been commenting about your soldier being deployed for a year or more,
you have guts.
You inspire me, big time.
Thank you for your helpful words.

Anyway, yesterday I was just feeling a little "blah."
I logged onto Twitter and a blogger had mentioned they had featured me
yesterday in a "scavenger hunt" type post.
How sweet!
I immediately clicked over to their post.
It was a lovely girl named Sara, and she had tagged me as having the "best blogger smile."
I was so honored.
Of all the bloggers, she picked me.
It gave me one of those, "Oh, that's so sweet, I just might cry," type of feelings.
Intrigued at what others picked, I clicked through the rest of the submissions.

I was floored to see that not only Sara, but two other bloggers
(Rachel & Danielle... go say hi to them!) had picked me as well.
You three totally made my day...
as well as all the other nice comments from other bloggers on their posts.
Thank you guys so much for making me smile.
You sure gave me a good reason yesterday.

I saw that too! And they're right to pick you, lady!! <3

Plus, you are TOTALLY lucky to get to talk to him every day. :(
It's hard, but you learn how strong you truly are. *hugs*

Hopefully his tech school isn't crazy like my husbands. When I met him, he would hide his trash in a small box in his dresser drawer. When I asked him why he said it was habit from tech school, they would get in trouble if they had trash in the trash can so everyone hid their trash until they could take it out to the dumpster. I thought he was joking until my sister confirmed it. Yay for being able to talk to him everyday!

Wow, what a sweet sweet post! This is such a heartfelt thing to write.

I had one of those days today, but only later on today. I was in a crying mood, which sucked.

It is well deserved, my dear :) I'm so glad I {along with some other equally wonderful ladies} was able to improve your day!

Aww, we had a reason to pick you, you have an awesome smile! Plus the fact that you're planning a wedding is so happy that it even makes me happy. And I know it must be rough having your guy gone during this time...my husband and I didn't get to see each other for two months right after we got engaged...it really was frustrating! I was so ready to finally be with him all the time by the time we got married. (Marriage is way more fun than being engaged, in my experience!)

So sweet! You do have a wonderful smile, and your blog is always a wonderful reason for me to smile as well. I love your writing :)

Thinking of you during this time of training. My husband is military and we've gone through a few short deployments this summer. Really the first few days are hard until you get into your rhythm. You will be rocking it in no time!!

I really feel for you! My husband and I were apart for most of our engagement - I lived in England doing volunteer work and traveling, and he was in Canada working and going to school. Oh BOY were we ever ready to get married when I got home!! :) And even after over a year of marriage I still don't take his presence for granted. It's so precious :)
